Parallel Session 8: Communicating Communications
Wednesday 10 April 14:15 - 16:00

In the path towards communication of science, numerous obstacles exist within institutions. They include: competing demands on researchers’ attention and energy; lack of know-how or confidence; and the expense, and sometimes ephemeral outcomes, of training.
The goal of the session is to illustrate the role of resources in embedding and dissemination good practice in written and (to a lesser extent) spoken communications.

The focus of the session lies on resources that are:
  • Pragmatic
  • Quick to use
  • Easy to access
  • Either free or low-cost.

Examples are drawn from university research departments (notably Luxembourg, and Heriot-Watt) and companies, mainly in the fields of engineering and technology.

The overall intention is to show how resources can help researchers and other communicators to avoid common pitfalls in the communication of science or research.
