ISIS users are warmly invited to apply for the first ISIS impact awards, which will be judged by the ISIS User Committee and awarded at NMSUM, 25 - 27 April 2018 at Warwick conference centre.

Eligibility
Researchers who have been PI or Co-I on an ISIS proposal in the last 3 years. Note, permission from the PI will be needed if an application is submitted by a Co-I).
Criteria
We are following the HEFCE definition for the REF, where impact is the “effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life" in the UK or internationally. There will be three awards; science, social and economic.
Science award – the contribution that excellent research makes to academic advances, across and within disciplines, including significant advances in understanding, methods, theory, application and academic practice.
Society award – research that demonstrates or has led to significant social benefit, through improving health, quality of life, policy change or inspiring the next generation of scientists.
Economic award – research that demonstrates significant economic impact. This could include a license deal, spin-out company, improvements to products or services, improving a company's market share or job creation.
To Apply
You need to provide:
- An overview of your research (300 words)
- Details of the specific project that generated the impact, linked to a successful proposal (300 words)
- Impact of the research, specifically who benefitted and quantify what the benefits were (500 words)
- Evidence of these benefits – references, testimonials, case studies etc
Award
The winning entries in each category will be turned into impact case studies by our science writers and featured on the ISIS website and in our 2018 Annual Review.
