Matt North, Head of the ISIS Instrumentation Division
Matt is responsible for Facility Safety, Radiological Protection, Detectors, Data Acquisition Electronics & Instrument Computing. His background is in Electrical Engineering, having started his training as an apprentice in the satellite industry with Matra Marconi Space (now Airbus Defence & Space) moving on to obtain a degree in Electrical & Electronic engineering at Portsmouth University and a Masters in Digital Signal Processing at Oxford Brookes.
Matt joined the ISIS Neutron & Muon source as a graduate in 2002, designing FPGA based electronic systems for the Accelerator in early career, moving on to manage the delivery of large 3He and ZnS neutron detector projects then onto the development of Sample Environment control systems and the operational management of instrument motion and safety related control systems.
