NEPHEWS (Neutrons and Photons Elevating Worldwide Science) is an EU-funded project which will deliver access to a collection of Europe's premier neutron, syncrotron and free electron laser sources. Full details of the project can be found on the NEPHEWS website
ISIS is a partner in the NEPHEWS collaboration, and is helping to deliver the Twinning part of the programme. Twinning enables researchers or research groups with less experience of, for example, neutron techniques, to come to an experiment at a suitable facility to learn more about the method and how it can be useful to them. ISIS will host 24 researchers over the course of the NEPHEWS project as part of the Twinning activity.
If you would like to come to ISIS to get experience of neutron or muon methods, you can find further details of this on the Twinning pages of the NEPHEWS website. To take part, please fill in the form on the NEPHEWS website (click the 'Registration' link on the left hand side of the page). Please also send an email to Philip King or Emma Gozzard to let us know that you have registered and would like to come to ISIS.
ISIS is able to cover reasonable travel and subsistence costs for Twinning visits to the facility under the NEPHEWS programme. This includes:
Reasonable economy flight costs to the UK, and the return flight.
Economy travel from the UK airport to the ISIS Facility, and the return journey.
Facility accommodation booked via the ISIS User Office.
Food expenses during the experiment (will be provided via a swipe card).
Please note: An individual user can only be funded under this scheme once. A user can only claim once for one experimental visit. Multiple experimental visits cannot be funded for the same user.
Full details of eligibility for the Twinning programme can be found on the NEPHEWS website, but priority will be given to users from 8 selected countries (Estonia, Finland, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine), other EU Widening countries and countries without direct access to large scale research infrastructures in their country.
Please contact Philip or Emma if you would like further information on the Twinning programme at ISIS.
