STFC have been recognised for providing a wide range of apprenticeships across the country, giving young people and adults the opportunity to expand their knowledge and confidence whilst being trained in exceptional facilities. What makes this award even more special is that it was given thanks to nominations from our own apprentices.
We would also like to congratulate Dame Julia Higgins, a regular ISIS user, who has been awarded the 2020 Sam Edwards Medal and Prize for her pioneering work in neutron scattering applied to the understanding of polymer structure and dynamics. Dame Julia was not only a pioneer of the use of neutrons in polymer sciences, but many current major ISIS users started in her group.
