IMAT Experiments
The number of gas handling experiments conducted on the IMAT instrument has increased over the past year including hydrogen storage, fuel cells, in-situ chemical reactions and even looking at the hydrogen moderator under different pressure conditions to check its functionality and design characteristics. Initial catalysis experiments have been conducted at the end of the last cycle with positive results which opens up new areas for gas handling experiments on IMAT.
A selection of this work is highlighted below.

In-situ fuel cell operation: Visualisation of water dynamics in lizard-inspired flow-field based polymer electrolyte fuel cells using neutron radiography. RB2220501, Dr Yunsong Wu, UCL.

Condensation of gases at low Temp: Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation in the 3-Component Electronic Liquid, Li-NH3-MeNH2. RB2220730, Dr A Seel ISIS STFC.

ISIS H2 moderator: Studying the operation under 8 bar pressure and ambient pressure has enabled the design team to understand the movement of the moderator aiding any future design changes. RB2250100 Dan Coates ISIS STFC, Mark Telkman ISIS STFC.
