Current and former computing apprentices
Make a difference, and have a great time.

Our apprentices are part of the team that provides the computing, software, data storage and networking infrastructure required by today's advanced data-intensive science facilities like ISIS.

The STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford is a world-leading centre for research. Computing lies at the heart of many of our activities. We are recruiting apprentices to work with us.

Our degree apprenticeship scheme offers structured training over 4 years, a real job from day one and an opportunity to gain a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Degree with QA (accredited by University of Roehampton)

During the scheme, you will rotate between several departments gaining a range of experience.

When we recruit, we are looking for people who have:

  • Enthusiasm for a career in IT!
  • Have gained or be on track to gain at least a minimum of two A levels at grade A or above OR three A levels at grade C or above OR a BTEC Level 3 in Computing (or similar subject) or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Some knowledge of computers and programming.

Vacancies for starting Autumn 2019 will open early summer (May/June) so check back again then. The deadline for applications is usually July/August.
