Overview
The ISIS Hydrogen and Catalysis Laboratory offers a range of equipment optimised for the study of porous materials (e.g. hydrogen storage materials and catalysts).
It features appropriate ventilation for working with pressurised H2 gas and other flammable and toxic gasses. Instrumentation is available for investigating porous materials including adsorption and desorption isotherms, porosity measurements and gas uptake and desorption with RGA analysis. Spectroscopic equipment is also available for sample characterisation.
Location
The lab is situated in building R79 down by the main gate.
Access Policy
Access is restricted and can be gained through the lab manager. Booking of instrumentation must be through the lab manager. Where appropriate, training will be given to allow users to take measurements or samples will be run by the lab staff as a service.
Safety Information and Working Practices
Please see attached the induction sheet. A formal induction will be conducted for anyone who will be working in the lab without the lab manager present.
