Do you have data you’re struggling to analyse? Are you unsure about how to use your analysis software? Do you have difficulties with modelling or simulating your system? Do you have plans for an experiment, but are unsure about how you are going to interpret it?
The ISIS Data Clinic is a software workshop where ISIS users with difficult or complex analysis problems can get support and feedback from software engineers, instrument scientists, and other users. It is a place to dive into technical details with people that have in-depth knowledge of the software you’re using, and to get the feedback you need to progress your work.
Format
The ISIS Data Clinic will be split into two sections:- Presentations - You’ll present your problem to everyone at the clinic (7.5min) and we will have a preliminary discussion as a big group.
- Small groups - We will split into small groups and work on the specifics of your problem.
The exact focus and scope of the meeting will depend on the applications we receive, and a more detailed schedule will be available nearer the time.
Areas and Software
We expect to be able to provide support with the following topics and software:- Neutron Spectroscopy (Horace, SpinW, Euphonic)
- Total Scattering and QENS (Dissolve, Horace, MDANSE)
- Small Angle Scattering (SasView, SasFit)
- Magnetic Systems (SpinW, SasView)
- Molecular Dynamics Simulation (MDANSE, MDMC)
There are some areas for which we hope to be able to provide support, but that could be out of scope. If the topic of your application is in the following list, it is worth
contacting us before making an application.
- Reflectometry
- Diffraction
- Muon Spectroscopy
- Experiment Planning and Automation
- Anything else
Application Details
Applications are open until 20 May. You may apply individually or as a group. We will get back to you with a decision as soon as we can, but the exact timing will depend on the number and type of applications we receive.
We will be able to provide travel and subsistence allowances for users from UK institutions. If you would like to be considered, please indicate on the application.
We might contact you for your data before making a final decision about an application and you should expect other people to see your data at the meeting.
