Newton Programme funding for researchers from China and India to use ISIS started in 2014. Since then, 120 separate experiments have been supported at the facility through this programme, benefiting around 200 individual researchers including around 100 PhD students. The Programme has encouraged a large increase in applications to the facility from India and China, supporting the development of neutron research programmes in these countries covering pure and applied science areas including global challenge problems.
Funding for the programme ends at the end of March 2019, so no further experiments can be supported under the programme.
However, limited funding for Indian researchers to come to ISIS for experiments is still available under the ISIS-India agreement with the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research.
