Each year, ISIS takes on over thirty students for a placement as part of their penultimate or final year of their integrated degree programs. These students are treated as full-time members of staff, and carry out projects that are crucial to the work of the facility: from accelerator engineering to software development, and even science communication.

Another example, is Callum McDonnell, who did summer placements at ISIS and RAL Space before joining the ISIS graduate scheme.
STFC's Industrial Placement scheme (previously known as Sandwich Student scheme) is now open for applications for 2020/21. All the information on the placement requirements, projects and application can be found on the Industrial Placement Opportunities website.
